Tamiya TRF415 Marc Rheinard edition…it’s coming 😉

During 2006 there has been a lot of visible testing and development on the MSX. Basically new stuff on the TRF drivers cars at every race. Just small improvements to make the chassis even more competitive, kind of like the constant development that goes on in F1. Well with all these new parts seen and now even more beeing published it’s a question of when, not if, an updated version of the 415 is coming.

Whether this will actually be called 415 ‘Marc Rheinard edition’ is of course not yet known but some whispers from the inside have been heard that indicate this…

The main things we can expect:

New Drivetrain
– TA05 delrin 36T diff pulleys
– lightweight center pulley (probably with the new TA05 LW Center Shaft)
– new belts

New Steering
– new, lower, more precise and adjustable all aluminium steering
– here’s how Tamiya describe the new steering in the presentation of the new TB Evo V:
“Steering unit has been located in even lower position, and totally redesigned to incorporate Ackerman steering geometry, realizing sharp and precise linear steering feel.”

Updated Chassis & Upper Deck
– chassis should be the same 2.5mm (although a 2mm chassis has been tested), just with holes for new steering which is mounted more towards the rear.
– upper deck redesigned for new steering

+ some other bits as mentioned previously…

Item #53917 – RC 2.6mm Titanium Sus Shaft – For Reversible Suspension
Item #53928 – RC Short Reversible Sus Arm

Here’s again Tamiyas quote from the TB Evo V press release regardíng the shorter rear wishbones. “Suspension system utilizes reversible type short span arms to greatly improve responsiveness.”
These arms have been used for some time by the TRf drivers already so I would expect them to be included with the kit.

As you can see this will be quite an impressive version of the 415! My guess would be that it will be announced at the Shizuoka show in May in Japan. Then if it follows the ususal trend of Tamiya it would be available in late July perhaps (after Marc has won his second WC title…).

What could also happen is that they first release an upgrade kit for MSX owners and wait to see if Marc does indeed win the IFMAR title (which now seems VERY likely I have to say) and then release an MR Worlds edition kit.

I’m sure in a months time we know more…
