Axon TC10/3 Prototype

Axon today announced that their team drivers Akio Sobue and Hayato Ishioka will use a prototype of their new TC10/3 touring car at the JMRCA national TC chamiponships at Green Park Speedway in Japan later this week.

It has been fairly well known for some time that Axon have been working towards their own car, after the initial TC10 and TC10/2 conversion kits. Today’s confirmatuion from Axon themselves means that the new model is now close, and it is indeed confirmed that it will be a full car kit, and not just another conversion kit. It is believed that the car is already quite well progressed, and the aim is for a release before the end of the year.

If intel from Japan is to believed, the car will be released with a carbon chassis initially. It will have long carbon arms, but still use outer pins and a form of caster block, just not a normal c-hub, with simple turnbuckle upper arms, much like what can be seen on the spy photos from last years ISTC Worlds (and previously used many years ago by a couple of other manufacturers). Uprights will be aluminium. The car will probably use a development of Axon’s already excellent dampers, while it might come with new shorter springs.

It will be interesting to see what results they acheive at the JMRCA All-Japan TC Championships, and I very much look forward to seeing the car.
