Blitz EK9 FWD TC Body

Together with the ARC R11F (see presentation), I also got the new Blitz EK9 FWD body.

Over the next few weeks I will have the chance to test both the car and body, but here first a look at this old school FWD body.

The EK9 name refers to the first Honda Civic to receive the Type R name, which was the 6th-generation Civic, also called EK9. This was way back in 1997, which is why I call it old school.

The body is delivered like most bodies, i.e clear polycarbonate with wing(s) integrated in the body mould, overspray film, window masks, decal sheet, and hardware.

Three different wings are included, which you will see more of in the following images.

The quality of the details and trim lines are good, even if not perfect. The window masks were a bit difficult to apply as they already had the window frames cut-out, which together with the strong glue made it somewhat of a struggle to place them in their correct locations.

Above you see EK9 body with the ‘standard’ rear wing.

The realism of the details and the light decals could be a bit better.

Here you see where the lower rear wing can be mounted.

And here it is on the car together with the roof wing.

Finally, the larger rear wing mounted in place of the standard wing. All these are, as already mentioned, included with the EK9 body.

It will be interesting to compare this body on track with some of the more modern bodies. Personally (as you know if you have been reading this blog for a while), I’m more of a fan of modern TCR bodies on the FWD cars, but if you (like many do) have a thing for older Type R’s, this will be your body!

Two versions are available:

# 60225-07 EK9 FWD Body-Shell 0.7mm-Standard
# 60225-05 EK9 FWD Body-Shell 0.5mm-light

The 0.7mm version, painted silver/black as in the images, and with the single standard wing, weighs 85g.
