Closer Look at the ZooRacing Baybee

Following the DBX and Hellcat, the new Baybee TC body from ZooRacing is finally here.

With the DBX realeased early 2019, and the Hellcat in May 2019, ZooRacing took some time to release this next TC body.

ZooRacing describes the Baybee as an evolution of the DBX shell, and while it is clearly is from the same family, to me it certainly looks quite different.

Looking at the body, the most notable difference is the longer and rounder front end. The front and rear of the body are also even lower than on the DBX. The front end leading up to the windscreen is also a bit smoother or softer shape, but with clear ribs that reinforce the body in this area.

The roof is quite DBX -like being very round and recessed, with very aggressive ribs at the outer edges. Compared to the previous Zoo bodies the Baybee has a much more defined side skirt. The rear section has two reinforcement ribs compared to three on the DBX. The body comes with a new, slightly curved wing (when looking from above), that follows the shape of the body.

To manufacture the body ZooRacing use a new moulding process that they call ZOOlite, which is in response to mainly the ETS rules that state a minimum body weight. Obviously the ideal is to get as close to this limit, which is the motivation behind this change. The body as you see it painted in the images weighs in at 82.5g (0.7mm version).

Most welcome is that ZooRacing has added a bit of realism to the front end, and I was happy to see them launch the body with some nice spoked wheels, with these two details as well as the realistic livery making it instantly look a bit better.

Anybody who knows me know that I have never liked BMW, so when deciding how to paint the body, I had to think a bit if there has ever been any BMW racing car I have liked 🙂 After a bit of thinking I remembered one – i.e. the West Coast Racing Tools BMW from the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) of 2007-2009. So that’s the reason you see it painted like this 🙂

Look forward to trying this on track very soon!
